Frequently asked questions by employers
Does it cost to use your service?
No, it's a free service connecting and supporting your business growth. We may even be able to help you access funding.
What services can you provide?
We will meet with you to discuss your current requirements and provide advice and guidance if needed. We will then promote your opportunity for you, both within the DurhamWorks team and utilising our social media. We will sift CV’s, pre-screen, support and arrange interviews. We would also keep in touch with you for follow ups and once a young person has started employment/work experience with yourselves, provide check in’s for an agreed time to ensure all is going well.
Do you organise CVs and provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates?
Yes! We would also pass feedback to the DurhamWorks Progression Team, who would support the young person in future applications.
Do you organise apprenticeships?
We do not deliver an apprenticeship, however we have strong links with local colleges and training providers whom we can speak to and make an introduction for you to get the best support. We can also promote the apprenticeship and submit suitable young people for the role.
How many candidates can you provide?
Our service is all about matching the right young person to your business. We would discuss with you when taking the initial details of the vacancy our thoughts on the number of young people we would submit for interview.
How long can work trial/ work experience be?
Work trials are typically a couple of days and work experience is usually up to two weeks but can be longer subject to the young person. A Health and Safety Risk assessment would be completed prior to this taking place and length of the work trial/work experience would be discussed then. The time would need to be beneficial to both the young person and you, as an employer.
Do you check references?
No, this would be the responsibility of the employer to check.
Does my business have to be in the County Durham area?
No, but the candidate must live in County Durham.
