Description

The aim of the programme is to provide you with an introduction into bricklaying, resulting in you gaining a NCFE level 1 in bricklaying, providing standards are achieved.

You will also gain skills in confidence building, using public transport and much more.

It’s ideal for anyone who’d like a more ‘hands on’ approach to their learning and allows learners to gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in the subject area.

It will consist of weekly one to one and group mentoring. Both pupils and staff get to know one another to build relationships and to establish the needs and requirements. This may include the following.

  • Opportunity identifying (college/apprenticeships/work)
  • College/work Applications.
  • Interview preparation and planning.
  • Public transport planning. This may include pre-appointment trial runs.
  • College or workplace visits.
  • Email/telephone support for students.
  • Introduction to bricklaying.
  • Team building activities.
  • Community visits.
  • Planning for work/college life.
  • Group discussions.

All activities will be designed to help enhance student’s social skills, confidence, and more. Meals and drinks will be provided to students during sessions when required.

The programme runs over nine weeks.

There will be Taster sessions/drop-ins every Thursday between 2.00 and 4.00pm. Please note places need to be booked in advance by contacting Simon Gee directly on 07984 526 426 to book a drop-in space.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
