Offer for Schools and Community Teams from the North East Council for Addictions

Kevin Wright · November 26, 2025 ·

The North East Council for Addictions (NECA) Gambling Harm Prevention and Education team deliver training and awareness sessions to young people from 10-25 years old, professionals, parents and carers; raising awareness around gambling related harms that young people may come across regularly.

Their Young People sessions are linked to the PSHE curriculum and come at no cost to your organisation. Similarly, their Professionals sessions are fully CPD accredited again at no cost to you. The sessions can be offered both face to face at your school or virtual sessions all year round.

NECA are very keen to increase awareness of gambling related harms throughout communities and organisations working with young people. To enable them to further promote this work we are looking to recruit Gambling Related Harms Champions within youth organisations/schools/colleges etc.

NECA aspire to have a Gambling Related Harms Champion within each school/organisation, this would involve a free awareness session to enable the champions to recognise signs of gambling harms, deliver a brief intervention and signpost to appropriate support. This would be invaluable in raising awareness of the harms and the support available.

They can provide leaflets, posters, popups and gambling related harms awareness sessions amongst other things.

Please find below a link to access the NECA charter for further information, this includes a QR code and link for ease of sign up.

Young people’s survey – support and activities in your area

Kevin Wright · October 10, 2025 ·

If you are aged between 11 and 24 years old we would like to hear from you about the activities and support in and around your local area.

This short survey will ask you about your thoughts on this. This is part of research being done by the National Youth Agency exploring support for young people.

We won’t be able to tell who you are from the questions, so please answer honestly. You do not have to answer anything you don’t want to, just skip questions.

Your survey response will be stored securely by the National Youth Agency, which works to support young people and youth workers. It will not be shared with anyone else.

To take part in the survey please click on the following link: Young people’s survey.

Transgender Awareness Week

Kevin Wright · September 23, 2025 ·

Each year between November 13 – 19, people and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help increase understanding about transgender people and the issues members of the community face.

Trans Awareness Week takes place the week before Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence that year.

Anti-Bullying Week 2025: Power for Good

Kevin Wright · September 23, 2025 ·

Starting Monday 10 November….

Every year, bullying impacts the lives of countless young people and silence helps it grow.

That’s why, this Anti-Bullying Week, we’re empowering young people to use their Power for Good to safely speak up and raise awareness when they see bullying, face to face or online.

Lasting change needs all of us. From playgrounds to parliament, our homes to our phones — we all have a part to play.

Together, we can use our Power for Good to end bullying — for good.
