Anna’s Story

23 year old Anna had successfully battled a drug addiction and was working at a drug and alcohol recovery organisation when she was made redundant.


Helping employers to see Jade’s skills

Jade has a visual impairment. She’s always enjoyed helping people but trying to find an employer willing to take on her disability had proved challenging and she had started to doubt her own abilities. DurhamWorks helped her get her confidence back and now she’s using her disability to her advantage, advising local services about how best to cater for visually impaired people.


Ben's Story

Ben had jobs before but wasn’t sure what direction he wanted to go in next. After some support from DurhamWorks he’s now in a job he loves, training to be an accountant.


Jamie's Story

Jamie came to Finishing Touches after finding that college was just not for him.


Lucy's Story

Lucy is one of many young people who have taken part in the project so far. She has developed her social skills, confidence and self-esteem with support from DurhamWorks.


Brandon's Story

Brandon approached Consett YMCA as part of the Finishing Touches project on DurhamWorks as he wanted to get an apprenticeship.
