DurhamWorks and Delivery Partner Groundwork embracing new ways of working

During COVID- 19 we have all had to adapt and change the way we work. Groundwork North East offers wraparound support to participants, to help them secure education, training or employment opportunities. They required access to the DurhamWorks client database to be able to update records and access any relevant and important information.

So we didn’t let social distancing stop us. Through discussions with Groundwork it was decided that Craig Liddle (Planning and Analysis Co-ordinator, Progression and Learning) would offer some virtual training for staff instead’.

Craig said “I organised two short sessions (90 minutes) with 10 members of Groundwork staff. These sessions were held virtually using the Microsoft Teams application, which allowed all staff to diary in their calendar and log in at the appropriate time in preparation for the session”

To ensure that Groundwork’s Youth Coach team could begin recording within the DWILR system, Craig took Groundwork staff through some detailed training on the system.

Craig said “it was great to meet all of the Groundwork staff and be able to offer the training/information sessions remotely (which included a virtual tea/refreshment break!)”

Individual Groundwork Youth Coaches will now have access to all their participants and have individual electronic caseloads.

Joanne Holloway Youth Performance Lead at Groundwork said “The training will enable us to proficiently use a system that is new to us, for recording all of our participant’s milestones and keep all records up to date more effectively.
