Chance for Change | Mybe Awards Ltd
Location: 5A West Lane, Chester-Le-Street, DH3 3HJ
Qualification: None

The Chance for Change programme will increase a young person's confidence, develop their motivation, unpick their obstacles to employment, education or training and help them to make a positive movement towards the labour market and / or learning. This will be achieved through a short, relatively intensive range of creative activities, developing personal resilience in today’s world, and engaging with possible consequences of remaining NEET.

Participants will select a beginners’ creative industries taster activity from:

•Sound and music technology - including sampling, recording techniques, performance and producing a personal project.

•Photographic applications - including studio visit, learning about photography application and functions, and producing a personal project.

•Sculpting - including a woodland site visit to observe chainsaw commercial sculpting followed by clay sculpting and producing a personal product.

As well as the above creative activities, participants undertake:

•Resilience proficiency – learning how to become more resilient to handle everyday stress, tensions and lack of self-confidence.

•Forum discussions with lived experience ex-offenders and/or addicts – understanding the possible long term consequences of NEET (not in Education, Employment or Training).

The programme combines vocational activities, personalised support, creativity, and reflection to help participants adjust their mindsets toward vocational progression and achievements.

On completion of the programme, participants will have a “take away” portfolio, a product they have developed and a personalised plan for further progression.

We will commence referrals starting Monday 13 February 2023 and the course will commence by Monday 27 February 2023 four days per week 10.00am to 2.00pm for four weeks.

Travel costs as well as lunch and refreshments will be provided.
