L1 Award in Warehousing & Storage Principles
Location: Belmont Industrial Estate, DH1 1TF
Qualification: C&G1016 Level 1 in Warehousing & Storage

This is a seven-week programme that incorporates warehousing & storage principles alongside H&S, CV building and employability. This course also teaches the learner how to safely operate a Forklift Truck (Counterbalance) but they will not take the final FLT licence test.

Day one is spent completing a site and H&S induction. Week one to three will start in the classroom where we teach the basics of warehousing, the variation involved in warehousing, storage inc how to work with others and customer service.

We also provide a dedicated H&S & careers week, to identify their goals and interests, they will research warehousing/Forklift job roles and think about what areas interests them the most. They will spend some time doing e-learning on related subjects such as manual handling, intro to health & safety etc and will complete the health & safety unit for the qualification.

The learners spend one week learning about stock inventory and will do this for Finchale college by working with the team that receive all orders and parcels for Finchale, log them against expected orders, package for distribution and ensure that the right people get their parcels.

They then spend two of the 7 weeks learning about the forklift in groups of 3. They will get a basic intro to FLT, learning to inspect, maintain and operate the forklift in a safe manner by our approved tutor.

The learners do not take the final RTITB test.

The learners must be of ‘school leaving age’ to complete the forklift training, so minimum age is 16.

£150 Funding has been sourced towards the full RTITB forklift truck license should they want to progress to achieve this as well but the remainder of the balance (£390) is still required.
