The Skills Academy

Now DurhamWorks support is also helping the employers and young people who use their services, helping the training company to become more sustainable.

18 year old Brittany was unemployed and claiming Universal Credit when she met DurhamWorks adviser Helen at her local Job Centre. Now, she’s working as a Hospitality Apprentice at a boutique shop and café.


Robyn's Story

24 year old Robyn had worked in care homes until she injured her back. She found that the standing and lifting involved in her next job made her back worse and left to find an office-based job. Robyn applied for a Business Administration Apprenticeship, advertised through DurhamWorks, and when she was offered the job, DurhamWorks provided petrol money to get to work for 6 weeks, until her first pay came through.
